I was cleaning up the transmission (again/still) and I was reminded something I think I remember the car talk guys saying: “They say you get what you pay for...but you paid for a boat and all you got were these half-assed repairs!” - basically how I feel cleaning god-knows-what off of god-knows-where.
Miss you gents.

Those guys were the best. I know Ray is still around, and that’s something.

I actually wrote for that show - Ray is fine, alas Tommy is gone. I wrote a few bits, got a few t-shirts. It’s NPR - expect a tote bag and some thanks.

That’s really cool. Glad Ray is still around. Those guys really brightened my commute for a long time and got me into cars equally as much as Top Gear.

The reason Top Gear and Car Talk succeed is that both are very entertaining, even if you could care less about cars.

I’ve made a game out of guessing the original air date for a given episode of the Best of Series using nothing more than context clues and the cars mentioned. It’s a trip to hear someone describe a problem with the ‘89 Isuzu Trooper or other car I haven’t seen on the road in the last 15-20 years.

I still remember the very first time I tuned in to Car Talk . I don’t recall much of the episode, except that the puzzler was the one with the “dimly lit quonset hut”, which they started to make references to in subsequent episodes. It was nice to be on top of an inside joke.

When I first started listening to the podcast I thought the show was still going on and people still had dodge colts and such lol.

I do as well, and I’ve heard almost all the calls twice. We’ve missed the early years, when they were only broadcast in the greater Boston area, but maybe one day ....

Car Talk was my gateway drug into becoming an NPR listener. I remember that a friend in college recommended the show to me. It was all downhill from there.
